Este trabajo expone parte del marco teórico de una investigación doctoral, que objetiva analizar las variables que interfieren en la adhesión al tratamiento e identificar el perfil epidemiológico de los pacientes atendidos en la red pública de salud mental en Brasil. El objetivo de este trabajo es realizar una aproximación conceptual a la estrategia de atención a la Sa¬lud Mental ofrecida por el Sistema Único de Salud y describir las principales investigaciones realizadas en Brasil sobre el tema de la adhesión al tratamiento de los pacientes que acceden a esos servicios. A partir de esta descripción se advierten las dificultades de los profesionales en percibir el tratamiento integral e interdisciplinario, ofrecido en ese modelo de atención. Se concluye que varios de los profesionales de la salud que actúan en ese campo perciben el tratamiento desde las particularidades de su área de conocimiento. Se advierte una laguna investigativa sobre la adhesión al tratamiento integral ofrecido a los pacientes de la red pública de salud mental, aparentemente por la complejidad de dicho tratamiento. Palabras clave Adhesión al tratamiento, Salud mental, Tratamiento integral Abstract ADHERENCE TO THE TREATMENT OF PATIENTS IN THE MENTAL HEALTH This paper exposes part of the theoretical framework of a doctoral research, which aims to analyze the variables that interfere in treatment adherence and identify the epidemiological profile of patients treated in the public network of mental health of a state capital in Brazil. The objective of this work is to perform a conceptual approach to the strategy of focusing on the mental health offered by the Unified Health System and describe the main research carried out in Brazil on the topic of adherence to treatment of patients who are accessing these services. From this description we intend to reflect the difficulties of the professionals working in this area to perceive the integrality of the interdisciplinary treatment offered in this model of care. It is concluded that there are several health professionals working in this area and will receive the treatment from the particularities of their area of expertise. There is a blank on the research of adherence to the comprehensive treatment offered to patients in the public network of mental health, apparently by the complexity of the treatment.
