Resumen
ABSTRACT In developing a professional identity, itinerancies constitute a "transitional space". They allow role practice and the testing of knowledge and aptitudes and mediate between conceptual and practical knowledge. They provide neophytes with a stepping zone from which they can graduate to full professional status with help from tutors. Itinerancies play a vital role in graduate and post-graduate training.
