La inteligencia sensorio-motriz es la capacidad de resolver los problemas a partir de actividades en las que intervienen la percepción, las actitudes, el tono y los movimientos sin evocaciones simbólicas, es decir antes de la aparición del lenguaje verbal. Según Piaget, desde los 17 meses se estaría en presencia del VI estadío, último del período sensoriomotriz. La hipótesis de nuestro trabajo fue considerar que el VI estadío finaliza más allá del segundo año de vida, alcanzando en algunos niños los 30 meses de edad cronológica. A los efectos de estudiar en nuestra población argentina, la prolongación del VI estadio, se observaron los resultados obtenidos en los 83 bebés entre 18 y 24 meses de la muestra original de 323 bebés y se aplicó la EAIS a otra población compuesta por 93 bebes que concurren al Servicio Cognoscitivo para bebes en el CIIPME-CONICET y en lugares similares. Se observó que a partir de los 17 meses, algunos niños logran el comienzo del estadío VI, sin embargo es excepcional el final del estadío VI a los 24 meses: sólo lo logra el 20% de nuestra muestra de población argentina. The sensory motor intelligence is the ability to solve problems through activities in which perception, attitudes, tone and movements without symbolic evocations - that is, before the verbal language appears - are mainly part of. According Piaget, the VI stage starts at the age of 17 months old, the last period of the sensory motor intelligence. The hypothesis of our work was to consider that the end of the VI stage takes place beyond the second year of life, reaching the 30 months of chronological age in some of the babies. In order to study the prolongation of the VI stage in our Argentinean population, the results obtained in the 83 babies between 18 and 24 months old of our original sample of 323 babies were analyzed and another population was also assessed with the EAIS: 93 babies that attended to the cognoscitive service for babies, located in CIIPMECONICET, and in similar places. It was observed that from the age of 17 months old, some babies reached the beginning of the VI stage.
