Este trabajo se inscribe en el marco de un proyecto UBACyT que lleva por título Las afectaciones del analista. Nos dedicaremos a trabajar los aportes de Theodor Reik sobre la sorpresa, dado que son una referencia obligada para entender la especificidad de la intervención analítica. Lacan no solo leyó el texto, sino que lo citó en varias oportunidades, destacando que la sorpresa era correlativa a haber aprehendido el inconsciente. Entendemos que este aporte además, es crucial porque Reik propone que la ocurrencia analítica adviene de lo reprimido del analista. Encontramos en Lacan, algunas referencias enigmáticas, donde habla del fantasma del analista. Nos proponemos entonces interrogar que queda del fantasma al final del análisis y más aún, en lo que hace al analista en su función. Tomaremos una serie de citas del libro de Theodor Reik que nos permitan localizar los puntos clave que Lacan no solo recogió sino que utilizó, a veces citando explícitamente, y otras, haciendo referencia sin nombrarlo. Por otro lado, recorreremos la noción de deseo del analista, para recortar aquellas referencias que nos permitan dar cuenta de ese punto enigmático del que adviene la intervención analítica propiamente dicha. Volvemos así a la sorpresa, a la afectación del analista, no sin un rodeo esclarecedor. Palabras clave Afecto - Fantasma - Sorpresa - Reik ABSTRACT THE LOGIC OF SURPRISE: WHEN THE ANALYST PLAYS THE GAME This study is situated within the framework of a UBACyT project titled The Affectations of the Analyst. Our focus is on examining Theodor Reik’s contributions regarding surprise, as they are essential for understanding the specificity of the psychoanalytic intervention. Lacan not only read Reik’s work but also cited it multiple times, emphasizing that surprise correlates with the apprehension of the unconscious. We contend that Reik’s assertion—that the analytic occurrence arises from the repressed aspects of the analyst—is pivotal. In Lacan’s work, we encounter enigmatic references to the “ghost of the analyst.” Our objective is to interrogate what remains of this ghost at the conclusion of analysis and, more crucially, its implications for the analyst’s role. We will analyze a series of quotations from Reik’s book that allow us to identify key points Lacan not only acknowledged but also utilized—sometimes explicitly citing them and other times alluding to them without direct mention. Additionally, we will explore the concept of the analyst’s desire to delineate those references that elucidate the enigmatic point from which the analytic intervention genuinely emanates.
