Se presenta un estudio comparativo acerca de la percepción que estudiantes de nivel medio y universitario tienen sobre problemas académicos experimentados en el último año, así como su estilo de afrontamiento. Se trabajó con 290 alumnos universitarios (Mediaedad=23.51; DE= 5.1). El Grupo de comparación lo constituyeron 136 alumnos de Escuelas Medias (Mediaedad=15.74; DE= .75). Los instrumentos de recolección fueron la Adaptación UBA - CONICET (2007) del Coping Responses Inventory - Youth Form (Moos, 1993, 1995) y una encuesta de datos de filiación y datos académicos básicos. Se encontraron diferencias a favor de las mujeres al nivel p< .01 en las estrategias Búsqueda de orientación y apoyo, Evitación cognitiva y Descarga emocional. Se verificó que los estudiantes universitarios utilizan más a menudo las estrategias Análisis Lógico, Reevaluación Positiva y Resolución de Problemas que los estudiantes de nivel medio (p< .01). Las situaciones conflictivas informadas por los universitarios que predominan son Problemas varios y Problemas para dar exámen. Palabras clave Afrontamiento Estudiantes Problemas académicos ABSTRACT COLLEGE STUDENTS: COPING STRATEGIES AND ACADEMIC PROBLEMS This is a comparative research about the perception that high school and college students have about academic problems experienced in the last year, as well as their coping styles. The study included a group of 290 college students with an age mean of 23.51 and an standard deviation of 5.1. The group it was compared to consisted in 136 high school students with an age mean of 15.74 and an standard deviation of SD= .75. The instruments used for the data recollection were: the UBA CONICET adaptation (2007) of the Coping Responses Inventory -YouthForm(Moos,1993,1995)andasurveyaboutdemographic and basic academic information. Significant differences were found on favour of the female students on a level of significance of p<.01 in the coping strategies of Search of Support and Orientation, Cognitive Avoidance and Emotional Discharge. It was verified that compared to high school students, college students use more often the Logical Analysis, the Positive Reevaluation and the Problem Solution strategies (p< .01).
