La vida contemporánea discurre gobernada por la globalidad, el capitalismo salvaje, el neoliberalismo a ultranza, la segregación, la repelencia y el desamparo del otro. Bajo estas coordenadas el sujeto se repliega desde lo psíquico hacia el cuerpo, vía privilegiada de expresión de su malestar demostrando que el cuerpo tampoco escapa a las prescripciones y las prerrogativas que hacen de la cultura un ejercicio pautado de normas. Emergen así usos posmodernos del cuerpo entre los que se cuentan la tendencia a marcarlos, a cortarlos, a perforarlos. La cisura se alza como retrato de una sociedad en la cual la crueldad hacia el otro es cada vez más castigada y, en contrapartida, se ha multiplicado la tendencia a la autodestrucción. Tendencia que parece arraigar con fuerza entre los jóvenes. Las autoinjurias constituyen un campo heterogéneo en el cual es posible considerar que diferentes modalidades del mismo que se distinguen por su operación psíquica particular. En este escrito se propone abordar el estatuto de aquellos casos en los cuales el corte posee una clara una orientación, una direccionalidad y se inscribe como un modo especifico de relación al Otro.
