Se presentan resultados preliminares que denotarían una tendencia del nivel de severidad de la demencia del paciente sobre el sentimiento de carga experimentado por el cuidador informal principal. Se examina también, si la presencia de alteraciones conductuales agravarían la sobrecarga en el cuidador. Con tal fin se construyó un cuestionario ad hoc de datos sociodemográficos y psicosociales del cuidador y del paciente y se seleccionaron los siguientes instrumentos: GDS de Reisberg B. y cols. (1985), CDR de Huges C.P. y cols. (1982), NPI Cummings y cols.( 1994), Escala de Sobrecarga del Cuidador de Martín M. y col. (1996). Las pruebas fueron administradas a 21 de las 100 díadas que conformarán la muestra total, en un Servicio de Neurología de un Hospital del conurbano bonaerense. Se puede señalar la siguiente tendencia observada en los datos: el progresivo aumento del deterioro cognitivo con el consecuente surgimiento de alteraciones comportamentales, va acompañado de un aumento en el nivel de sobrecarga de los cuidadores familiares principales. Palabras Clave Demencia Sobrecarga Cuidador principal Abstract DEMENTIA AND INFORMAL SUPPORT: PRELIMINARY RESULTS ABSTRACT Preliminary results that would show a tendency of the level of severity of the patient’s dementia over the feeling of burden felt by the principal informal caregiver are presented. It is also examined if the presence of behavioural alterations would make worse the overburden of the caregiver. With that purpose an “ad-hoc” questionnaire of demographic and psychosocial data of the caregiver and patient was made and the following instruments were selected: GDS by Reisberg B. & cols. (1985), CDR by Huges C.P. & cols.(1982), NPI Cummings & cols.(1994) Overburden Scale of the caregiver by Martin M. & cols. (1996). The tests were given to 21 of the 100 couples of the total show in a Neurological Service of a hospital in the suburbs of Buenos Aires. We can point out the tendency observed in the data: the progressive increase of the cognitive deterioration with the consequent arising of behavioural alterations is accompanied by an increase in the level of overburden in the principal family care.
