En el mundo psicológico y educativo se utilizan de modo relativamente impreciso las categorías de teoría implícita y representación social, el propósito de este artículo es presentar sistemáticamente el significado de cada categoría distinguiendo su estructura, función y carácter implícito. Luego, se establece una comparación crítica entre ambas, subrayando el significado y alcance epistémico del término representación, así como el locus de producción de cada una. Palabras Clave teoría implícita, representación social Abstract PSICHOLOGY FACING THE COMMON SENS: IMPLICIT THEORIES AND SOCIAL REPRESENTATIONS On psychological and educational world the terms implicit theory and social representation are used in a relatively imprecise manner. The aim of this paper is to introduce the meaning of each term in a systematic way, differentiating between: its structure, function and implicit nature. Then, a critical comparison between both terms is established, highlighting the meaning and the epistemological extent of the term representation, as well as the production locus of each of them.
