El presente trabajo define el concepto de habilidades metalinguísticas y plantea su uso e importancia en el aprendizaje adecuado de la lectoescritura a través de una justificación aportada por la revisión del estado actual de las investigaciones en la temática. Para ello se consultaron 8 investigaciones y 1 fuente bibliográfica que revisan a su vez el estado actual de las investigaciones en la temática, realizándose un análisis comparativo del material obtenido y plasmando los resultados en diferentes categorías que permiten visualizar las principales líneas de investigación y los resultados a los que se han arribado. Se define la conciencia fonológica, la conciencia de palabras, la conciencia sintáctica y la conciencia pragmática; los resultados permiten afirmar que el debate científico se ha centrado principalmente en la discusión acerca de si la conciencia metalinguística se desarrolla a partir de la enseñanza de la lectoescritura, si se trata de un prerrequisito para dominarla o bien ambas circunstancias se potencian mutuamente; por otro lado, se puede afirmar también que los desarrollos investigativos actuales más fuertes se han centrado en la conciencia fonológica particularmente y han buscado determinar su uso y causalidad en la adquisición de la lectoescritura, planteando la opción de posiciones interactivas. The present work defines the concept of methalinguistics abilities and raises its use and importance in the suitable learning of the reading and writting through a justification contributed by the revision of the present state of the investigations in the thematic one. One defines the phonological conscience, the conscience of words, the syntactic conscience and the pragmatic conscience; the results allow to affirm that the scientific debate has been centered mainly in the discussion about if the methalinguistics conscience it is developed from the education of the reading and writting, if it is a prerequirement to dominate it or both circumstances are harnessed mutually; on the other hand, the option of interactive positions can also be affirmed that the more forts present researchers have been centered in the phonological conscience particularly and have looked for to determine their use and causality in.
