Desde el año 2010, un equipo de investigadores pertenecientes a diversas disciplinas como: la Psicología, la Abogacía y Comunicación Social, conjuntamente con alumnos avanzados de la Carrera de Psicología, formando parte desde el proyecto de Investigación, “Derechos Humanos, Control Social y Sectores Vulnerables”, dependiente de la Facultad de Psicología- Universidad Nacional de San Luis, comenzaron un espacio de desarrollos investigativos que tenían como eje del mismo el Colectivo Trans. Al largo de estos años, el foco ha girado en torno a la relación entre las personas trans y diferentes actores, como por ejemplo la policía. Siempre teniendo como referencia el acceso, o no, a derechos. A partir de la sanción en el año 2012 de la Ley de Identidad de Género, el eje de la investigación giró en torno al art. 11 y el cumplimiento en la provincia de San Luis, respecto del acceso a la salud del Colectivo Trans, como la cobertura aportadas desde las obras sociales, en materia de salud integral, intervenciones quirúrgicas y tratamientos hormonales. La promulgación de la Normativa, ha sido un efector de derechos para los ciudadanos provocando modificaciones a nivel del acceso a una salud integral.
