Resumen
Progress on Emotional Intelligence research brought with it the development of multiple measures for its evaluation. However, many of which have limitations conceptually and in terms of their validity and reliability. In Spanish-speaking countries such as Argentina, there are issues related to the use of instruments designed for other cultures. Tests that are merely translated are often used, without delving into conceptual, linguistic and metric equivalences.Selection of instruments that are not adapted or validated for the local population leads to biases and the impossibility of comparing with findings published in other countries. Due to this, within the framework of the research project of the University of Buenos Aires, in recent years different measures of Emotional Intelligence were developed and adapted for their use in Argentinian adults. The purpose of this work is to present the adaptation and validation of the Trait Meta-Mood Scale (TMMS), the Emotional Skills and Competencies Questionnaire (ESCQ) and the Wong-Law Emotional Intelligence Scale (WLEIS), as well as the construction and validation of the Perceived Emotional Intelligence Inventory (IIEP). Through these measures it is intended to analyze the importance of having measures that reflect the particularities of Emotional Intelligence in the local context and present instruments that have shown optimal psychometric properties in the Argentine context. As they can be valuable tools to use in research on Emotional Intelligence and in professional practice.
