Resumen
This essay examines the complex crossroads facing contemporary luxury fashion creative directors, caught between the profitability demands of conglomerates and the preservation of brand heritage. Drawing upon the theoretical frameworks of "cancel culture" and post-truth, the paper analyzes how the digitization and democratization of fashion through online platforms have transformed aesthetic reception into a punitive trial dominated by selective nostalgia, automated hate, and cyberbullying. Taking the announced departure of Seán McGirr from Alexander McQueen in October 2026 as a case study, we argue that the evaluation of creative performance has become subordinated to public shaming dynamics that penalize experimentation and aesthetic risk-taking. Ultimately, the text calls for a space of diverse and reasoned critique that clearly distinguishes legitimate questioning from digital mobbing in the age of hyper-connected mass consumption.
