Dr. Rishikesh Upadhyay was born to Indian Nepali parents, Pitambar Upadhaya (father) and Nandakala (Bawni) Upadhaya (mother) in Bhanjang Basti, Haflong, a small Nepalis' hamlet in Haflong, the district headquarter of North Cachar Hills (now Dima Hasao), India. He holds a PhD, MPhil, MSc from Assam University, BSc Hons from Haflong Government College, India.
Dr. Upadhyay's academic and creative writing has appeared in many literary publications both in online and print, and has spent the past decade working and teaching in higher educational institutions.He is currently working as a Professor at Assam University affiliated Haflong Government College, India.
