El presente trabajo se enmarca en el proyecto de investigación ”La influencia de la motivación y las expectativas de actuación profesional en el avance de los estudios universitarios” del Consejo de Investigaciones de la U.N.T (CIUNT). La temática planteada se vincula con las motivaciones personales inherentes a la elección de carrera en alumnos de Psicología y Ciencias de la Educación de la U.N.T y sus posibles incidencias en el ritmo de avance académico. Se consideran los resultados obtenidos en el proyecto “Dificultades en el tránsito académico de los estudiantes en las carreras de Psicología y Ciencias de la Educación de la U.N.T”, (2005 - 2008). Su lectura y análisis permitirán definir posibles líneas de análisis, relacionadas con la problemática de la motivación y su incidencia en la progresión académica, a trabajar desde el proyecto de investigación señalado. Se evidencia el predominio de una situación de aparente vocación y/o interés, aunque, es posible inferir, que la toma de decisiones y/o elaboración de estrategias inherentes al desempeño académico, no favorecen una adecuada progresión en los estudios. Se manifiesta entonces, una probable situación de desequilibrio o inestabilidad entre tales motivaciones y el estilo de afrontamiento estratégico explicitado por los alumnos en su tránsito académico. Palabras clave Motivación Incidencia Avance Académico ABSTRACT APPROACH TO THE INCIDENCE OF MOTIVATION IN THE CHOICE OF CAREER IN THE PSYCHOLOGY AND EDUCATIONAL SCIENCE STUDENTS’ ACADEMIC ADVANCE This paper was done within the research project “The influence of motivation and the expectations of professional performance in the advance of university studies” belonging to the U.N.T Research Council (CIUNT). The subject matter presented in this paper is closely connected to the personal motivation inherent in the choice of career of students of Psychology and Educational Science of the U.N.T and its effect in the pace of academic advance. The results obtained in the project “Difficulties in the academic traffic of students in the careers of Psychology and Educational Science (U.N.T, 2005 - 2008) will be taken into account. Reading and analyzing these results will allow us to define possible lines of action, in relation to the problems of motivation and its incidence in the academic progression, to be sorted out from the project above mentioned. Some students’ vocation or interest is shown though, it is possible to infer that making decisions and/or elaborating strategies inherent in the academic performance do not favour a suitable progression in the students’ headway. As a consequence, a probable situation of imbalance or unsteadiness between such motivations and the style of strategic confrontation shown by the students in their academic traffic is evident.
