Este trabajo es realizado como proyecto de tesis para obtener el grado de licenciada en psicopedagogía. En esta investigación se indagará las causas del acoso escolar. Se tratara de un trabajo exploratorio, descriptivo. El acoso escolar es un camino que va dejando secuelas tristes y alarmantes en estudiantes, profesores o cualquier otro miembro de la comunidad educativa. Según Piñuel (2007), el acoso escolar o maltrato entre iguales puede ser definido como “un continuado y deliberado maltrato verbal y modal que recibe un niño o una niña por parte de otro u otros, que se comportan con él/ella cruelmente con el objeto de someter, excluir, intimidar, amenazar u obtener algo de la víctima mediante chantaje y que atentan contra su dignidad y sus derechos fundamentales”. La presente investigación se realizará en la localidad de América, Pcia. de Buenos Aires, tomando como espacio de análisis la escuela Instituto América. Se va a tratar de investigar acerca de las características y causas del acoso escolar, las diferentes características sociales de los sujetos sometidos al maltrato entre iguales investigados por diferentes autores como Olweus (1993) y por ultimo las intervenciones que se llevan a cabo en las instituciones frente a estas situaciones.
