El objetivo del presente trabajo consiste en rastrear las diferentes definiciones de síntoma que aparecen a lo largo de la obra de Freud y Lacan. Asimismo, se busca indagar las similitudes y diferencias conceptuales que puedan aparecer entre estos autores al momento de pensar el síntoma. La investigación fue realizada bajo el marco teórico del psicoanálisis y el método utilizado fue el exploratorio. El material seleccionado demuestra distintas formas de concebir al síntoma que se ha convertido en un concepto central para el psicoanálisis. A partir de lo trabajado se podría pensar al síntoma como satisfacción mediante la no elección. Palabras clave Síntoma, Elección, Fantasía, Transformación ABSTRACT THE METHONYM DEFINITIONS OF THE SYMPTOM The objective of the present work is to trace the different definitions of symptoms that appear throughout the work of Freud and Lacan. Likewise, it seeks to investigate the similarities and conceptual differences that may appear between these authors at the moment of thinking the symptom. The research was carried out under the theoretical framework of psychoanalysis and the method used was the exploratory method. The selected material demonstrates different ways of conceiving the symptom that has become a central concept for psychoanalysis.
