Podríamos decir que toda formación social es una puesta en escena de significancia. Jerarquizarla supone poner en cuestión la noción de significación, es decir rehusarla como algo dado. El significante tiene efectos de significación que se constituye como tal en tanto discurso, es decir, en el seno de un lazo social que posibilita la ligazón de sujetos hablantes. El lazo social queda así a merced del equívoco y el malentenddido. De esta forma es posible pensar que el significado es contingente y provisional, ya que en la locución, el significante puede engendrar distintos significados. Y así como el diccionario es un intento de imponer una significación oficial, una primacía del sentido y el significado, por fuera del sujeto hablante y deseante, las guías informativas, el material informativo en su conjunto remiten a la figura imprescindible del diccionario, más no suficiente a la hora de poner en movimiento al sujeto en lo que aparece como búsqueda y/o necesidad de información.
