El objetivo general es conocer la magnitud de la deserción y el desgranamiento estudiantil en la Licenciatura en Psicología de UCSE-DASS cohortes 2002 a 2012. Los específicos son indagar los motivos y características de abandono, trabajando con muestra aleatoria del 10% de los alumnos de cada cohorte. Se aplicó una encuesta semiestructurada telefónica indagando edad, sexo, motivo de abandono, última materia cursada, convivientes, nivel educativo del jefe de familia, asistencia al Centro de Orientación Educativa, participación en actividades de extensión y solicitud de ayuda económica. El 50% de los a 41 estudiantes tenían ente 21 y 26 años, siendo el 73% mujeres. El 80,5% convivía con su familia de origen; el 10% con su pareja y el 2% con pareja e hijos. El 34% de los entrevistados refirieron problemas económicos como primer motivo de abandono, un 20% disconformidad con la carrera; el 17% problemas familiares y 10% bajo rendimiento académico. El 46% no recordaban la última materia cursada, el 22% mencionó Psicofisiología y el 19% Psicoestadística. En el 46%, el jefe de familia tenía nivel terciario o universitario completo, en el 22% nivel secundario incompleto. El 12% solicitó ayuda económica, el 32% concurrió a actividades de extensión.
